The Chodenangelbach , also called Anglbach , Chodenanglbach or Chodenangel and Chodská Úhlava in Czech , is a river in the Czech Republic and Germany . It flows into the Úhlava from the left at Úborsko .

course

The Chodská Úhlava rises northwest of the desert Zadní Chalupy ( Hinterhäuser ) in the Künischen Mountains in the Czech Republic . Its source is on the eastern slope of U Zadních Chalup (875 m nm) in the Šumava Protected Landscape Area . On its upper reaches, the stream initially flows in a southerly direction past the Kubitzerhäusel desert and the Královský Hvozd natural monument . At the U Truhláře ( Tischerhäusel or Dumsen ) desert , the Chodská Úhlava takes a westerly direction and reaches the Czech-German border at the confluence of the Helmbach / Lomnička brook .

Then the Anglbach / Chodská Úhlava is 3.72 kilometers in length from the Czech-German border brook. On this section it initially flows north of the Helmhöhe (1077 m) and the Zwieseleck (1054 m) at the Rittsteiger Forest, past the single-layer Hinterhelmhof, Vorderhelmhof and Anglmühle in Bavaria and on the Bohemian side past the deserted areas of Schindlhof and Ganglův dvůr ( Ganglhof ). Between Rittsteig and the deserted Truhlář ( Spirkenhöfe ) the Anglbach / Chodská Úhlava takes a northerly direction; along its course lie the Steinried, Geleitsbach and Gaishof strata in Bavaria and the Spirkenmühle and Mockabutten desert areas in the Czech Republic. South of the Kameňák ( stone forest , 751 m nm) the brook turns to the northeast and flows east of Gaishof in the desert of Hojsův Mlýn ( Huisenmühle ) back into Czech territory.

On the following section, the Chodská Úhlava valley forms the natural border between the Všerubská vrchovina and the Bohemian Forest .

The brook forms a notch valley south of the Dolní Hutě ( Unterhütten ) and Svatá Kateřina ( St. Katharina ) desert , in which the single-layer hut mill, Taubenhof, Harrerovy Dvory ( Harrahof ), Seidlovy Dvory ( Seidlhof ), U Hamru ( gun hammer ), Kriegrův Mlýn ( Warrior Mill) and Kriegrovy Dvory ( Warrior Court ) located; several sections of this now uninhabited valley were placed under protection as part of the Královský Hvozd natural monument . At the confluence of the Hraničářský potok, the Chodská Úhlava takes north, flows past the Kreikerhof and leaves the Šumava landscape protection area at Uhlišťský Mlýn ( St. Leonhard or Kohlheimer Mill ). The Chodská Úhlava then flows through between Ovčín Radošín ( Ratschin ) and Uhliště ( Kohlheim ). To the left of the brook, in a former amphibolite quarry, is the U Radošína nature reserve ; it has been under protection as a type locality of the Tauser Kristallin since 1990 on an area of 0.75 ha. His further course leads past the pilgrimage church of St. Leonhard to the Kuhtriftmühle. At Havlův Dvůr ( Hobelhof ), the brook at the southeastern foot of the Lišák ( Plattenberg , 710 m nm) turns east. At the western foot of the Na Popluží ( Hofackerberg ) the Chodská Úhlava near Chudenín takes a north-easterly direction again. Your lower reaches leads past Chudenín, Chudenínský Hamr ( weapons Hammer ), Na Dvorcích ( at home ), U Kopačků, Dvorce pod Strání, Hadrava, Bystřice nad Úhlavou, Nové Pocinovice and Stříbrný Mlyn in a wide flood plain for Janovický úval ( Janowitzer sink ). After 18.2 kilometers which opens Chodská Úhlava south of Úborsko in the Úhlava .

history

After the settlement of the Bohemian primeval forest area on the Bavarian border began in the Middle Ages , the lower course of the Chodenangelbach up to the Angelbach formed the southeastern border of the Chodenland to the Künischen mountains ( rule of Bistritz an der Angel ). The St. Katharina Freigericht, also located to the left of the valley, was the northernmost area of the Künische free farmers . In the Prague border treaty between the Kingdom of Bohemia and the Electorate of Bavaria in 1764 the course of the border on the Chodenangelbach was fixed, which was marked in nature by new heraldic stones. Two of these historical boundary stones with the Bohemian Lion and the Bavarian Rauten have been preserved at the mouth of the Helmbach. In both Bavaria and Bohemia, mills and farms were built in the valley. Village settlements did not emerge, however, all of which were by far higher up.

In execution of the contract between the German Reich and the Czechoslovak Republic on border watercourses and the exchange of territory on the Prussian stretch of the German-Czechoslovak border from January 31, 1930, a further contract between the two states on September 27, 1935 on border watercourses on the Saxon and Bavarian The border stretch as well as an area swap at the border, which also included a minor border regulation on the Angelbach / Chodská Úhlava , was completed. In order to move the border in the middle of the watercourse, an area of 90 m² was assigned to Czechoslovakia. As a result of the Munich Agreement , the German-Czech border was moved north to Nové Pocinovice / Neu Putzeried in 1938, so that only the last two kilometers of the stream remained in Czech territory; the majority of its course was now in the district of Markt Eisenstein . After the end of the Second World War, the border line from before 1938 was restored. As a result of the expulsion of the Germans from Czechoslovakia , the Bohemian areas on the Chodská Úhlava were largely relocated. From 1948, the area near the border on the Chodská Úhlava was declared a restricted area in the course of the construction of the Iron Curtain to Chudenín and the settlements there were destroyed. After the Velvet Revolution , the tourist border crossing Helmhof-Zadní Chalupy / Hinterhäuser was opened along the stream.
