Khovd-aimag ( Mongolian Ховд Аймаг ) is an aimag (province) of Mongolia , and is located in the west of the country. The capital also bears the name Khovd .
traffic
The airport of the city of Khovd (ZMKD / HVD) has two runways (one paved) and is served by regular flights to and from Ulan Bator .
population
The Chowd-Aimag is populated by a large number of different ethnic groups, each with a different tradition, song material, costume, language or dialect. In addition to the Oirat ethnic groups (Dsachtschin, Torguud, Altai-Urianchai, Ööld, Mjangad, Dörwöd), Western Chalcha and Kazakhs can also be found. All of these ethnic groups have their own settlement areas and rarely marry into another. Outside the city of Khovd, where all the peoples named in the table settle, these are distributed as follows.
Ethnicity | Settlement areas (sum) |
---|---|
Dzachchin | Altai, Möst, Dsereg, Manchan, Üjentsch, Tsetseg |
Goalie | Bulgan |
Altai Urianchai | Monk chairchan, Duut |
Oil | Erdenebüren |
Myangad | Myangad |
Dörwöd | Mjangad, Erdenebüren, Dörgön |
West Chalcha | Tschandman, Darwi, Tsetseg |
Kazakhs | Bujant, Bulgan, Erdenebüren, Chowd |
Administrative structure
The Aimag administrative center Chowd is geographically located in Bujant-Sum, but is managed independently. The administrative center of the neighboring Chowd-Sum is also called Chowd, which can easily lead to confusion for those unfamiliar with the area. The other sum centers also bear the name of the respective sum.
