Christel Happach-Kazan b. Happach (born January 4, 1950 in Berlin-Lichterfelde ) is a German politician ( FDP ).

Life and work

After graduating from the Lauenburg School of Academics in Ratzeburg , Christel Happach-Kasan spent a year as an AFS scholarship holder in the USA and then began studying biology , mathematics and pedagogy at the Philipps University of Marburg , which she passed her first state examination in 1976 for teaching at grammar schools. She then worked as a research assistant at the Department of Biology at the University of Marburg . In 1980 she was working on observations on the history of the development of Dinophyceae ceratium cornutum - Sexualität, Gamie u. Meiosis to Dr. rer. nat. PhD . After her legal clerkship , she passed the second state examination in 1983. Then she worked as a freelancer for various publishing houses .

Christel Happach-Kazan has a daughter.

Political party

She has been a member of the FDP since 1970. She has been chairwoman of the FDP district association of the Duchy of Lauenburg since 1985 . From 1989 to 2009 she was a member of the state board of the FDP Schleswig-Holstein , from 1999 as deputy state chairwoman. She heads the FDP Federal Committee on Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection.

From 1990 to 1992 Christel Happach-Kazan was a member of the district council of the Duchy of Lauenburg. From 1992 until the resignation of her mandate on December 10, 2002, she was a member of the Landtag of Schleswig-Holstein . Here she was deputy chairwoman of the FDP parliamentary group and parliamentary group spokeswoman for agricultural and environmental policy.

On December 10, 2002, she moved to the Bundestag for the resigned MP Wolfgang Kubicki . Christel Happach-Kazan was the spokeswoman for food and agriculture in the FDP parliamentary group and chairwoman of the working group on nutrition, agriculture and consumer protection in the FDP parliamentary group . In her offices she advocated genetic engineering in crop production and the food chain as well as the increased cultivation and use of plants for bioenergy production.

Christel Happach-Kazan always entered the Bundestag via the Schleswig-Holstein state list . Because her party failed to pass the five percent hurdle in the 2013 federal election , she was no longer represented in the 18th Bundestag.

Happach-Kazan was a member of the Europa-Union parliamentary group of the German Bundestag and chairman of the German-Baltic parliamentary group.

She is chairwoman of the Förderkreis Kulturdenkmal Stecknitzfahrt eV, member of the Freie Lauenburgische Akademie eV, chairwoman of the environmental committee of the Schleswig-Holsteinische Heimatbund (SHHB), state chairwoman of the Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wald (SDW) Schleswig-Holstein, member of the federal board of the SDW and member of the board of trustees of Otto von Bismarck Foundation . Happach-Kazan has been President of the German Fishing Association eV (DAFV) since 2013 . The DAFV, based in Berlin, was registered at the Charlottenburg District Court on June 19, 2013 following the merger of the Association of German Sport Fishermen and the German Anglers Association.
