Christian Kruck
Christian Kruck (* 12. February 1925 in Hamburg , † 18th September 1985 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German painter and lithographer of Expressionism .
life and work
In 1936 Christian Kruck moved to Nuremberg with his parents . After his apprenticeship as a lithographer , he studied fine arts in 1942 under Otto Michael Schmitt and Hermann Wilhelm at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg . From 1943 he did military service , then he was a prisoner of war until 1946 . He then continued his studies in Nuremberg and Freiburg im Breisgau .
At the end of the 1940s he made the acquaintance of the Künstlerbund members Erich Heckel , Otto Dix and Curth Georg Becker . In 1949 Kruck went back to Hamburg as a freelance artist and in 1950 married the painter Linde Körner. He developed the " stone printing painting" - a process in which up to 20 colors are printed from one stone. On the recommendation of Heckel, Kruck was appointed technical manager of the printing workshops at the State University of Fine Arts - Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main in 1953 . In the 1950s he took part in the annual exhibitions of the German Association of Artists. In 1962 he was given a teaching position at the Pratt Graphic Art Center in New York . In 1965 he participated in the portfolio II "European graphics" by Ketterer in Munich and made his first sculptural works. Study trips to New York , Washington , Italy, Spain, Greece, Spain, Israel and the Canary Islands followed . In 1970 he became a lecturer in printmaking at the Städelschule .
