Christian Pampel (born September 6, 1979 in Gehrden , Germany ) is a German national volleyball player .

Career

Christian Pampel began his career in 1995 in Hochstetten, Baden-Württemberg . After three years in Frankfurt boarding school, he went to the Bundesliga in 1999 for VfB Friedrichshafen , with whom he became German champion in 2000 and reached the final of the Champions League . The following year he took part in the European Championship in the Czech Republic with the senior national team after winning the double with VfB. In 2002 he repeated the double and in 2003 he won the DVV Cup again . The following European Championship in Germany gave him the international breakthrough, which the fans recognized with the vote for volleyball player of the year .

Then Pampel moved to Italy. There he first proved himself at the second division club Loreto, before moving a year later to the first division club Vibo Valentia , with whom he made it to the final of the Italian Cup, among other things. In 2005 he came to Sempervolley Padua and in February 2006 was voted “Player of the Month” in the Italian A1 league. For the play-offs of the Greek championship he went briefly to Olympiacos Piraeus and then returned to Padua.

He was part of the squad of the German national team, which reached ninth place at the 2006 World Cup in Japan and fifth at the 2007 European Championship in Russia . In the 2007/08 season Pampel returned to Friedrichshafen and won the national double again. With the national team he reached the 9th place at the Olympic Games in Beijing in August 2008. After the Olympic tournament he played in Russia with ZSK Gazprom-Ugra Surgut until December 2008 , then again in Italy with Copra Piacenza , where he celebrated his first title outside of Germany in May 2009, the Italian championship.

Christian Pampel then moved to South Korea to the Gumi LIG Greaters Seoul , where he was released in October due to a shoulder injury. From December 2009 he played in Qatar for Al-Arabi Doha , where he reached the championship in 2010, 2011 and 2012. In 2012 he was also the Asian club champion with Al-Arabi. In 2013 he switched to al-Jaish . There he ended his professional career in 2016. Since July 2016, Pampel has been the player-coach at the German third division club TSV Mimmenhausen in Salem , with whom he was promoted to the second volleyball division as a third division champion in the 2017/2018 season.

Christian Pampel is married and has a daughter and a son.
