Christian Schumann (conductor)

Christian Schumann (born January 14, 1983 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German conductor and composer .

Life

Schumann is the son of Hungarian parents. He trained as a pianist at an early age, studied conducting and composition at the Liszt School of Music Weimar in Weimar and was influenced by mentors such as Péter Eötvös , Pierre Boulez , Vladimir Jurowski, George Hurst, Gustavo Dudamel and Frank Strobel.

Since his debut at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, his work has taken him through Europe, Asia and Russia. He has conducted, among others, the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra , the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra , the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra , the Philharmonia Orchestra London, the London Philharmonic Orchestra , the Symphony Orchestra of St. Gallen and worked with the Symphony Orchestra of the Bavarian Radio and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. His activity extends to the symphonic repertoire, the opera world, contemporary music and also film music. Schumann is active as a composer of symphonic and chamber music works and in the field of film music.
