Christof Eichert

Christof Eichert (born April 6, 1953 in Bochum ) is a German local politician and foundation manager. From 1995 to 2003 he was Lord Mayor of Ludwigsburg .

Life

Christof Eichert was Mayor of Isny im Allgäu from September 5, 1985 to September 15, 1991 . Eichert received his doctorate in 1986 on the subject of homelessness and police intervention . For a short time he was then in the Ministry of the Interior in Dresden. In 1992 he became an alderman in Reutlingen and remained there until 1995 as cultural and administrative mayor . In 1995 he was elected Lord Mayor of Ludwigsburg . In the Ludwigsburg mayor elections in 2003, he decided not to run for a second term and became one of five managing directors at the Bertelsmann Foundation in Gütersloh , where he was responsible for cultural and educational projects. He then went to the Hertie Foundation in 2006 and was then head of department in the Ministry for Generations, Family, Women and Integration of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia from 2007 to 2010 . From December 2010 to the end of 2016, Eichert was Managing Director of the Herbert Quandt Foundation .

Volunteering

Eichert has been a member of the board of the Schader Foundation in Darmstadt and the board of the education organization Education Y in Düsseldorf since January 1, 2017 . From 1996 to 2003 Eichert was President of the German Library Association , from 2006 to 2010 a member of the Advisory Board for Education of the German UNESCO Commission and from 2011 to 2016 of the Advisory Board of the Federal Association of German Foundations . He has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the PriceWaterhouseCooper Foundation since 2014.

Awards

Eichert was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor of the Republic of France in 2000 and was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon in 2003 .
