Life

Christoph Goldt studied from 1985 at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster the subjects of Political Science , Catholic Theology , Modern History , Medieval History and Ancient History . After graduating as a Magister Artium in 1991, he worked from 1992 to 1996 in historical and political science research projects at the Fernuniversität Hagen , which resulted in a number of study papers . In the winter semester 1994/95 he was at the University of Münster with a dissertation supervised by Manfred Botzenhart on the subject of parliamentarism in the Kingdom of Saxony . On the history of the Saxon State Parliament 1871–1918 for Dr. phil. PhD . This study was the first to examine parliamentarianism in Saxony at the time of the German Empire . Goldt analyzed not only the elections themselves, but also the history of electoral law as well as the structure and politics of the state parliament. However, the methodology and the results of the work are criticized by the Saxon regional historical research. Wolfgang Schröder even speaks of a “research-wise embarrassing dissertation”. On the other hand, Josef Matzerath's judgment is somewhat more benevolent when he states that “the study [a greater depth of field] unfortunately only rarely [achieves]”, and at the same time raises the question “whether, despite the lack of sources, a more intensive penetration of the Material would have been possible by the author ”.

Christoph Goldt then switched to journalism and completed a traineeship at the Ibbenbürener Volkszeitung in Ibbenbüren and the Ruhr-Nachrichten in Dortmund from 1997 to 1999 . During this time he worked on the historical sections of the book Umbruch 2000. Dates, facts, figures , which deals with the history of the Ibbenbürener Vereinsdruckerei (IVD) and the Ibbenbürener Volkszeitung (IVZ) , and wrote the extensive study “Where does this rare relationship come from ? “St. Modestus in Dörenthe - roots, tradition and development of the Catholic community since the Reformation (both 1999).

From November 1999 to December 2009 Christoph Goldt was head of the Episcopal Press Office in the Diocese of Augsburg . As press spokesman for the diocese and Bishop Dr. Walter Mixa , who often made headlines nationwide with his statements, became known to Goldt far beyond the diocese. Officially in January 2010, at his own request, he switched to the position of public relations officer for "Aktion Hope - Help for Mission GmbH", an aid organization of the Augsburg diocese that deals with development cooperation projects in Latin America, Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe. From October 1, 2011, Goldt was the head of the press office of the International Catholic Missionary Organization missio Bayern in Munich, which is one of the Papal Mission Societies. Finally, he returned to the diocese of Augsburg in 2016 as an education officer and has been deputy head of the church education / Catholic adult education department of the diocese since 2017.

Goldt has presented various publications on political, economic and church history. In mission peace. Christian Offensive for a New World Order (2004) he analyzes the pronouncements and peace initiatives of the Popes up to John Paul II and derives principles of a Christian-inspired “world domestic policy” in the age of globalization and worldwide violence. The study met with great interest from both the Vatican and the United Nations. Subsequently, he published further articles on questions of the international politics of the Holy See. Goldt is a member of the Association of Historians in Germany .

Christoph Goldt is married and has three children. He lives in Kissing with his family . There he was one of the candidates for the CSU in the 2014 local elections .
