Christoph Ludwig Goll
Christoph Ludwig Goll (born March 29, 1824 in Bissingen an der Teck , † April 26, 1897 in Kirchheim unter Teck ) was a German organ builder .
Life
Christoph Ludwig Goll was the fourth of twelve children of the farmer and parish clerk Jakob Friedrich Goll (1797–1846) and his wife Anna Maria born. Weber (1798–1870) born. The family belonged to the Evangelical Lutheran State Church of Württemberg. After finishing school he learned the organ building trade from 1835 to 1841 with Johann Viktor Gruol (the younger) and worked with Johann Heinrich Schäfer in Heilbronn and Carl Gottlieb Weigle in Stuttgart . From 1845 he worked again at Gruol & Blessing and was involved in the company from 1850 to 1854. In 1854 he started his own business and in 1856 moved the workshop to Kirchheim unter Teck. Around 1856 he married Johanne Christiane Vier (born 1827).
Within a few years, Christoph Ludwig Goll was able to receive medals for his organs at various trade exhibitions and thus became known. At the beginning of 1872 he received the silver medal for an organ which he had presented at the Swabian trade exhibition in Ulm in the summer of 1871. He received another silver medal at the Stuttgart State Exhibition in 1881.
In 1890 his son, Gustav Adolf Goll (1858–1902), joined the company (GLGoll & Sohn) as an employee and partner. Around 1896, Christoph Ludwig Goll appointed his colleague Friedrich Schäfer (1861–1920) from Göppingen as managing director. After the death of Gustav Adolf Goll, Friedrich Schäfer continued to run the company as GL Goll & Sohn, owner: F. Schäfer.
Up to the beginning of the First World War, over 170 organs, v. a. for southern Germany. Of these, around 15% are still preserved today.
His younger brother Friedrich Goll learned the trade of organ building from 1854 to 1858 in his workshop in Kirchheim unter Teck.
