Christopher and Heinz - Eine Liebe in Berlin (original title: Christopher and His Kind , also: Christopher and Heinz ) is a British drama directed by Geoffrey Sax , the plot of which is based on the life of Christopher Isherwood .

In the early 1930s, the young British writer Christopher Isherwood traveled to Berlin. He decides to live there for a while and goes to the nightclubs frequented by gays and lesbians. One day he met the young street sweeper Heinz Neddermeyer. The two fall passionately in love. However, as the influence of the Nazis increases and the homosexuals face increasing hostility, Christopher and Heinz decide to flee to England. There, as a German and as a gay man, Heinz meets with suspicion. He is arrested on charges of illegal entry and deported to Germany. Only after the end of the war do the two see each other again - but time and events have left their mark.
