Imogen Gay Poots (born June 3, 1989 in Hammersmith , London ) is a British actress and model . She became particularly well known for the role of Tammy in 28 Weeks Later (2007).

life and career

Imogen Poots was born to Fiona Goodall - a journalist and volunteer with English and Scottish roots - and Trevor Poots - a film producer of Northern Irish origin. She has an older brother named Alex who is also a model. She grew up in the London borough of Chiswick and received private tuition at the following schools in the western part of the metropolis : Bute House Preparatory School for Girls in Brook Green, Queen's Gate School in South Kensington and Latymer Upper School in Hammersmith. During the time in which she was trying to pursue a career as a veterinarian but abandoned it after fainting in the practice , she took part in improvisation workshops on Saturdays at the Riverside Studios in Hammersmith - offered by the YoungBlood Theater Company .

Poots had her first film appearance as the young Valerie Page in the dystopian political thriller V for Vendetta (2006). She previously starred in an episode of the British television series Casualty in 2004 . She received her biggest success in 2007 with the role of Tammy in the last days - horror - thriller 28 Weeks Later . In the same year she also starred in Matt Day's short film Wish . In 2008 she had a role in the BBC film Miss Austen Regrets . In Solitary Man (2009) she acted alongside Michael Douglas , in Cracks (2009) alongside Eva Green . In 2010 she played the role of the Celtic witch Arianne in Neil Marshall's historical film Centurion alongside Michael Fassbender . In the following years she continued to play in a wide variety of genres . She won a British Independent Film Award for her engagement in The Look of Love . In 2014 she acted alongside Pierce Brosnan in the film adaptation of A Long Way Down as Jess Crichton .

Further film roles followed. Her oeuvre encompasses more than 40 productions, occasionally also series. In 2019 she was awarded Best Actress for her role in Vivarium (2019) at the Sitges Festival Internacional de Cinema Fantàstic de Catalunya .
