Ciriaco Benavente Mateos (born January 3, 1943 in Malpartida de Plasencia , Spain ) is a Spanish clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Albacete .

Life

Ciriaco Benavente Mateos received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Plasencia on June 4, 1966 .

On January 17, 1992, Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Coria-Cáceres . The Apostolic Nuncio in Spain, Archbishop Mario Tagliaferri , donated him episcopal ordination on March 22nd of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Toledo , Cardinal Marcelo González Martín , and the Archbishop of Burgos , Santiago Martínez Acebes . On October 16, 2006, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . to the Bishop of Albacete. The inauguration took place on December 16 of the same year.

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on September 25, 2018.
