Claude André Larose (born May 17, 1955 in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu , Québec ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player (left winger) who served from 1973 to 1978 for the New York Rangers in the National Hockey League and for the Cincinnati Stingers and the Indianapolis Racers played in the World Hockey Association .

Career

As a junior he played with the Drummondville Rangers in the QMJHL and in 1974 moved within the league to the Castors de Sherbrooke . With these he reached the finals of the Memorial Cup in 1975 . There they were subject to the Toronto Marlboros . The initially very defensive left winger developed into one of the best scorers in the junior league.

The scouts' views of his abilities were very different. In the NHL he was not trusted very much and so he was selected in the NHL Amateur Draft 1975 by the New York Rangers only in the seventh round as 120th. In the 1975 WHA Amateur Draft, however, the Cincinnati Stingers used the first pick of the draft to secure the rights to it.

Right at the beginning of the 1975/76 season he went hunting for goals for the Stingers. He turned out to be a decent attacker in the WHA, but didn't turn out to be the star one was hoping for. In the course of the 1977/78 season switched to the Indianapolis Racers in the WHA . Here he was also in the squad when Wayne Gretzky began his professional career there.

After the WHA was disbanded, he joined the New York Rangers , who still had the NHL rights to him. He only made 25 games in the NHL and was mostly for the New Haven Nighthawks in the American Hockey League . After he had played the 1981/82 season for the Springfield Indians in the AHL, the Rangers brought him again for two playoff games.

He then continued to play in the AHL for the Sherbrooke Jets and later for the Canadiens de Sherbrooke . Here he was able to prove himself to be one of the top scorers again.

After he had ended his active career in 1986, he returned to the ice in 1996 and played two seasons for the Papetiers de Windsor in the Quebec Semi-Pro Hockey League .
