Claudia Lokar

Claudia Lokar (born Claudia Margareta Borgschulze ; born February 9, 1964 in Herne ) is a German long-distance runner .

career

In 1989 she won her first German championship title in the 3,000 meter run . Further national titles over the same distance followed in 1992 and 1993, and in 1992 and from 1994 to 1996 she was German champion in cross-country long distance. At the World Athletics Championships in 1993 in Stuttgart, she was twelfth over 3000 meters.

In 1994 she won the Paderborn Easter run on the half marathon route and was second in the Hamburg marathon in 2:32:06 h on her debut over the full distance . In the New York City Marathon she came in fifth place in 2:31:47 h. The following year she was sixth in New York.

In 1996 she won the half marathon in Paderborn again. At the Olympic Games in Atlanta , she started over 5000 meters , but was eliminated in the preliminary run. At the Berlin Marathon , she achieved her personal best with 2:28:17 h and was fourth overall German marathon champion . After that, she suffered from a tear in the tendon attachment in her right ischial bone and other injuries, so that the 1997 Nagoya Marathon , in which she finished 13th in 2:32:54 h, was her last marathon. Even though she officially ended her international career in 1999, she continues to run ambitiously, became German champion in mountain running in 2002 and set a German record in the 10 km road race three times for the W45 class in 2009 (most recently on November 8th in Herne with 34 : 29 min).

Claudia Lokar is 1.61 m tall, weighs 42 kg and is a special education teacher by profession. She is trained by her husband Wolfgang, to whom she has been married since October 1992. In her youth she started for TuS 09 Erkenschwick, then for SC Eintracht Hamm (1986-1989), LG Olympia Dortmund (1990-1995) and TV Wattenscheid 01 (from 1996), as a hobby runner finally for TuS Sythen and SuS Olfen .
