Claus Kottmann

Claus Kottmann (born June 26, 1951 in Cologne ) is a Dutch film architect and set designer for film and television.

Born in Cologne, he received his training in the 1970s and at the end of the same decade was already able to work as a prop master for Rainer Werner Fassbinder's internationally successful production Die Ehe der Maria Braun . Kottmann also worked in this position in Gerhard Polt's satirical comedy Kehraus in 1982. Apart from an isolated television production from 1980, Kottmann was only regularly active as an outfitter or film architect and TV set designer from the mid-1980s.

He designed the outfitting optics of various individual productions, including a few low-content comedies with Mike Krüger and Thomas Gottschalk in the 1980s as well as several productions by Doris Dörrie in the 1990s and Michael Herbig's huge box-office and audience successes, Der Schuh des Manitu and (T) Spaceship Surprise - Period 1 . Above all, however, Kottmann has worked as a production designer for a large number of television series such as Ein Haus in der Toscana , Nikola and Die Camper , since the 2000s he has mainly focused on crime series such as Tatort , Kommissar Stolberg , SOKO Cologne and most recently the Stralsund crime series .
