Concetto Pozzati (born December 10, 1935 in Vo near Padua , Italy ; † August 1, 2017 in Bologna , Italy) was an Italian painter and graphic artist . He lived and worked in Bologna.

Concetto Pozzati was born in Padua. His family moved to Assago in 1942 , as far away as possible from the events of the Second World War . Since 1949 Pozzati lived and worked in Bologna, where he also studied at the Istituto d'Arte with Venanzio Baccilieri , Paul Manaresi and Quinto Ghermandi , among others . In addition to art, he was also interested in studying architecture , moved to Paris and learned to use commercial graphics there and in Italy .

From 1955 he took part in major national and international exhibitions and received numerous awards and recognitions. In 1959 he had his first solo exhibition in Milan . In 1964 he participated in documenta III in Kassel in the painting department . From 1967 to 1973 Pozzati taught at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Urbino , and later at the academies in Florence and Venice . He was head of the painting department at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Bologna. He was a member of the Accademia di San Luca . In 1972 and 1980 he was a participant in the Venice Biennale . In 1975 he was awarded the Perseo d'oro in Florence , together with Riccardo Muti and Umberto Eco .

In 1977 he founded, together with Giulio Turcato , Carla Accardi , Gianni Colombo , Emilio Tadini , Carmelo Cappello and Mimmo Rotella, the group “ Cooperarte ” which organizes exhibitions throughout Italy. From 1993 to 1996 he was the cultural assessor of the city of Bologna. After 1998 he was artistic director of the Casa del Mantegna in Mantua . Concetto Pozzati was an important exponent of Italian modern abstract painting . His art was characterized by the use of different materials. He was known for his numerous collages .
