Connor Alfred Barwin (* 15. October 1986 in Detroit , Michigan ) is a former American American Footballer in the National Football League (NFL). He last played as a linebacker for the New York Giants . He was previously under contract with the Houston Texans , the Philadelphia Eagles and the Los Angeles Rams

Youth and college

Barwin was born deaf and underwent a series of surgeries as a child, which resulted in his hearing being restored by the age of 12.

He attended the University of Cincinnati and played for their team, the Bearcats, both college football and basketball . He was initially used as a tight end and in the special teams , in his last season also as a defensive end .

NFL

Houston Texans

In the NFL Draft 2009 he was selected in the 2nd round as a total of 46th by the Houston Texans and was used in all games as a defensive end. In 2010 he suffered an ankle injury in the first game and was out for the entire season. 2011 and 2012 he was in all games as a starting - Linebacker used.

Philadelphia Eagles

On March 14, 2013, he signed a six-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. In his new team, he immediately became a pillar of the secondary , for his consistently good performance he was appointed to the Pro Bowl for the first time in 2014 .

Los Angeles Rams

After withdrawal of his contract with the Eagles Barwin signed on 16 March 2017 a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Rams , who gave him 6.5 million dollars brings. He was brought in by the Rams to support their linebacker team.

New York Giants

In March 2018, he moved to the New York Giants , where he received a two-year contract worth five million US dollars. He was released at the end of January 2019.
On October 14, 2019, Barwin announced his departure from active sports.
