Franz Constantin Rembe (also Konstantin Rembe ; born October 28, 1868 in Kassel , † March 2, 1958 in Prien ) was a German major general , politician of the NSDAP and member of the Reichstag .

Life

Rembe passed the Abitur in 1888 at the Potsdamer Viktoria-Gymnasium . His military career began in the autumn of 1888 when he joined the 1st Lower Alsatian Field Artillery Regiment No. 31 as a flag junior . As a member of the naval field battery in the Association of the Second Sea Battalion , he took part in the so-called China Expedition (suppression of the Boxer Rebellion ) from July 1900 to autumn 1901 . At the end of March 1904 he joined the protection force for German South West Africa and participated as a member of the suppression of the uprising of the Herero and Nama . As a result of two typhoid fever , Rembe returned to Germany at the end of 1905, where he was a member of the high command of the protection forces in the Reich Colonial Office. In 1907 he was transferred to the 1st Thuringian Field Artillery Regiment No. 19 in Erfurt . With this unit, Constantin Rembe moved into the First World War on August 7, 1914 . From October 1, 1920 to March 31, 1923 he was the commander of the 5th Artillery Regiment of the Reichswehr and then retired as major general from active military service. From 1923 to 1929 Rembe was in the state committee of the 3rd Cavalry Division and from 1924 a member of the Bund Oberland .

Rembe joined the NSDAP on April 1, 1930 ( membership number 232,586). In the party he was from October 1, 1930 to June 1932 district and local group leader in Erfurt and then until May 1936 district leader of the Erfurt-Stadt district.

After the transfer of power to the National Socialists, Rembe was a member of the Prussian state parliament from March 5 to October 14, 1933 (constituency 12, Erfurt). From November 12, 1933 until the end of the war he was a member of the Reichstag (constituency 12, Thuringia). In addition, since March 1933 he was a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Saxony and a city councilor in Erfurt. After the introduction of the German municipal code, Rembe ensured the implementation of the Führer principle in Erfurt local politics: at his suggestion as "NSDAP representative", five full-time councilors and an advisory council were appointed. In the NSDAP, Rembe was Gau inspector of the Thuringia Gauleitung for Erfurt from 1933 to May 1936. From October 1934 to May 1945 he acted as regional group leader of the Thuringia regional group of the Reich Air Protection Association and was there general air protection leader. He was also head of the district association of the Reich Colonial Association . On February 1, 1938 Rembe was appointed chairman of the Thuringia district court of the NSDAP.

Rembe was also a member of the board of directors of the Thuringia Office of the Nordic Society and a full member of the Academy of Charitable Sciences in Erfurt . He was the bearer of the Golden Party Badge of the NSDAP (since January 30, 1938), the Silver Gauadler of the NSDAP Thuringia and the Cross of Merit of the German Red Cross .

In September 1945 Rembe was arrested and deported to the Soviet Union. A Soviet military court sentenced him to 25 years in a labor camp in June 1950, but he was released from prison in September 1953.
