Cory Marks (* 11. October 1989 in North Bay , Ontario as Cory Marquardt ) is a Canadian singer.

Career

music

At the age of ten, Marks learned to play the drums and discovered bands and artists such as Deep Purple , Ozzy Osbourne and Rush for himself. Through his parents he also came to country music , where he was particularly influenced by outlaws such as Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard . During his time in college, he started his career by combining rock music with country. As a musician, he appears as Cory Marks, because, according to his own statement, "nobody could pronounce his real last name correctly". Marks himself describes his music as reinforced country rock. However, this mixture caused him major problems. For example, many Canadian country radio stations didn't want to play his music.

In 2018, Marks was signed by the record company Eleven Seven , which later renamed itself Better Noise Music . In November 2019, Marks released his first single Outlaw and Outsiders , which featured guest vocalists Travis Tritt , Ivan Moody ( Five Finger Death Punch ) and guitarist Mick Mars ( Mötley Crüe ). The song also appeared on the soundtrack of the film Sno Babies .

On August 7, 2020, the debut album Who I Am , which was produced by Kevin Churko in Las Vegas , was released. Another guest on the album is Lzzy Hale ( Halestorm ) on the song Out in the Rain . A tour planned for summer 2020 in the opening act of Breaking Benjamin , Bush , Theory of a Deadman and Saint Asonia has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic .
