The settlement extends from the Torrent de Son Jordi in the west to the Cap des Pinar, about 2.5 kilometers away, on the northeastern boundary of the bay. To the north of Costa des Pins rise the up to 317 meters high Serra de Son Jordi , on whose ridge the municipal boundary to Capdepera runs. An unpaved path leads over the 151 meter high Coll Baix pass into northeastern Canyamel . In terms of traffic, Costa des Pins can be reached from the southwest on the road from Port Vell . description

Eurotel Punta Rotja

The archaeological site of Mestre Ramon , located 1.5 kilometers to the southwest, points to a prehistoric settlement of the area of Costa des Pins . The settlement itself was only built in the early 1960s in the Muntanyes de Son Jordi area , after the Eurotel Punta Rotja designed by the architect Miguel Fisac had been built. The eight-storey hotel, which opened in 1966, still dominates the surrounding buildings, which are almost exclusively single-family houses or villas under the pine trees .

One year after the Eurotel Punta Rotja , the golf course of the Club de Golf de Son Servera went into operation in 1967 . It stretches along the northwest and north sides of Costa des Pins from the Torrent de Son Jordi to the foot of the 246 meter high Puig des Moro . The golf course limited the growth of the settlement significantly, so that its greatest width from the coast to the north is only about 450 meters. Many of the approximately 250 houses were built on the slopes of the cliff and are not permanently inhabited. They mainly serve as summer residences for Spanish and German citizens. The center of Costa des Pins is an open space between Carrer des Golf and Avinguda des Pinar , on the east side of which there are some shops.

On the coast of Costa des Pins there are two little-visited sandy beaches and a rocky beach. The largest of them, es Ribell , limits the settlement to the southwest and merges into the more extensive beach of sa Marjal . The small sandy beach of es Rajolí can be reached by stairs from Carrer de sa Font . The rocky bathing area of the Caló des Torrent des Morts , also accessible by stairs, is almost at the eastern end of the settlement at the mouth of a torrent. In the very east of Costa des Pins, the restored viewpoint (mirador) was opened to the public again in 2017 . From here you can see the entire bay of Badia de Son Servera up to the Punta de n'Amer peninsula .

Others

The Supreme Court of Mallorca ruled in 2013 that the former editor-in-chief of the daily El Mundo Pedro J. Ramírez , who owns a summer house in Costa des Pins, must open his private swimming pool, which has been built on a rocky promontory directly above the sea, to the public. The location of the swimming pool does not comply with the Coastal Law (Ley de Costas) of 1988, which stipulates a certain distance from the sea for private properties.
