history

1843 19 villages were from the royal to Kameraldomänen Timis and Arad County to promote tobacco growing settled. Kowatsch was named after the village surveyor, the Hungarian Kovács. In 1844 30 families came from Saderlach . Each family got 16 yoke fields. The residents spoke Alemannic . Between 1850 and 1870 more than 100 families from all over the Banat moved to Kowatsch. New dialects were added. The Alemannic was replaced by the Rhine-Franconian and finally had to give way to the Palatinate . The church was built in 1895 and consecrated by János Csernoch , bishop of the Csanád diocese .

After the Banat was divided into three on June 4, 1920 as a result of the Treaty of Trianon , Kowatsch fell to the Kingdom of Romania . Since then the official name has been Covaci .
