history
The history of Giarmata-Vii is closely related to the history of Giarmata . At the beginning of the 19th century, the provincial administration from Timisoara sold vacant land around the city. The buyers of these properties were the first settlers of the newly established village. They came from the surrounding villages of Giarmata, Șag , Ianova , Recaș , Firiteaz , Pișchia , Bencec and other localities. Überland was first mentioned in a document in 1806.
The villagers mainly dealt with viticulture , which has been incorporated into the Romanian place name. But after the viticulture was attacked by the phylloxera phyloxera in 1893 and 1894 , which led to the destruction of the vines, the inhabitants of overland looked for other occupations, especially in milk processing . Others turned to the craft . Many worked as bricklayers, carpenters or day laborers in Timișoara.
In 1911 the place was renamed "Kisgyarmatapuszta" as a result of the Magyarization and finally came under the Treaty of Trianon of June 4, 1920 to the Kingdom of Romania . Until 1956 Giarmata-Vii belonged to the municipality of Giarmata and was then incorporated into Ghiroda.
The Romanian name Giarmata-Vii first appeared in a document in 1943. It was created based on the municipality of Giarmata; the addition "Vii" (Romanian for vineyards) indicates the main occupation of the residents, viticulture.
After the construction of the airport east of Giarmata-Vii, the place began to expand to the east. Today Giarmata-Vii benefits from a privileged location, which has led to an explosive construction boom. The Societatea de Transport Public Timișoara bus line M35 connects Giarmata-Vii with Timișoara.
