The Creglingen area is a landscape protection area of almost 2000 hectares in the area of the cities of Creglingen , Niederstetten and Weikersheim in the Main-Tauber district in Baden-Württemberg . It was designated by ordinance of August 29, 1997 (LSG number 1.28.014).
location
The nature reserve of around 2000 hectares belongs to the Hohenloher-Haller-Ebene, the Tauberland and the Ochsenfurtergau and Gollachgau.
Protection purpose
The main protection purpose of the landscape protection area is:
- the preservation of special topographical formations and landscape elements that shape the character of the landscape in their diversity, uniqueness and beauty. Particularly noteworthy are the near-natural flowing waters, the blades, valleys and slopes with their wide-ranging structural pattern, consisting primarily of elements of scattered fruit, field hedges and trees, stone bars, limestone grasslands, meadows and pastures, fields, forest and bush zones;
- the protection of ecological compensation areas as retreats for animal and plant species in order to guarantee the greatest possible biodiversity. Here, the sloping areas in particular, with their diverse mosaic of use, represent high-quality biotopes for floristic and faunistic purposes;
- securing the entire landscape as a valuable recreational area for the general public.
