Cross City is a city and also the county seat of Dixie County in the US state of Florida with 1728 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Cross City is about 140 km southeast of Tallahassee and about 180 km southwest of Jacksonville .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the 1728 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 845 households. The population density was 352.7 inh / km². 69.6% of the population identified themselves as whites, 27.5% as African-Americans , 0.2% as Indians and 0.4% as Asian Americans . 0.2% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.0% to several ethnic groups. 1.9% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 33.3% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 30.2% of all households. 65.4% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.42 people and the average family size was 3.02 people.
27.9% of the population were younger than 20 years, 21.7% were 20 to 39 years old, 26.0% were 40 to 59 years old, and 24.4% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 40 years. 45.6% of the population were male and 44.4% were female.
