The Cura Mori District is located in the province of Piura of Piura Region in northwestern Peru . The district has an area of ​​197.65 km². At the 2017 census, there were 18,671 residents in the district. In 1993 the population was 13,733, in 2007 16,923. The administrative seat is in the small town of Cucungará .

Geographical location

The district of Cura Mori is located in the south of the province of Piura. It is located on the east bank of the Río Piura 15 km south of the regional capital Piura . It extends over the arid landscape of the coastal desert of northwestern Peru. Irrigated agriculture is practiced in the west of the district. The national road 1N ( Panamericana Norte ) crosses the district in a northerly direction.

The district of Cura Mori borders on the La Arena district to the west, the Catacaos district to the north and east, and El Tallán to the south .
