Curt Hildebrand von Einsiedel (born June 8, 1758 Dragsdorf ; † December 21, 1834 in Dresden ) was a Saxon major general of the infantry and commander of the Dresden residence.

Life

Curt Hildebrand comes from the Gnandstein line of the von Einsiedel family . His parents were Heinrich von Einsiedel (1713–1786) and his wife Johanne Charlotte Edler († 1797).

Military career

Einsiedel was chosen as the fourth son for military service. He came to the cadet house in 1773 , from there he was transferred to the then infantry regiment "Kurfürstin" (dissolved as regiment "Dyherrn" in 1810) as a sub-lieutenant in autumn 1773 . He fought in 1779 in the last days of the War of the Bavarian Succession . In 1787 he was promoted to prime lieutenant and at the end of September 1795 to captain . As such, he fought in the First Coalition War against the French in the Battle of Wetzlar in 1796 .

In 1806 he took part in the Battle of Jena in the Fourth Coalition War. On July 5, 1807 he was promoted to major and commanded a grenadier battalion in Saxony during the Fifth Coalition War of 1809. In the battle near Wilsdruff he was wounded by a Saxon dragoons. He received a saber cut in the head because the dragoons mistook the major who had put on his coat for an Austrian officer.

When the Saxon troops were reorganized in 1810, he was transferred to the "König" infantry regiment, and on August 17, 1810, he was transferred to the "Rechten" regiment, which was then located in Danzig . The “Right” regiment in the 9th Army Corps under Marshal von Belluno took part in the campaign of 1812 . Einsiedel was appointed colonel and adjutant general to the king on July 30, 1812 , but retained his position in the regiment for the time being. He fought at the crossing over the Beresina , received a contusion on the chest and was taken prisoner.

He stopped fighting in 1813, but in 1814 (Saxony had switched to the Allies) commander of the 1st Line Regiment, which took part in the campaign in the Netherlands , as in 1815 in Alsace , where he for some time before the blockade troops Schlettstadt commanded.

On March 5, 1823, Einsiedel advanced to major general and commander of the Dresden residence.
