history

The village was first mentioned in 1295 in the Liber fundationis episcopatus Vratislaviensis as Dambrona Goziconis . A first castle-like structure was built around 1100 to secure the ford in the Oder. The castle and the village were badly destroyed in the Thirty Years War .

Between 1907 and 1909 the castle in Dombrovka received its present form. In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 386 eligible voters voted to remain in Germany and 163 to belong to Poland. In 1934 the place was renamed Eichtal .

Until 1945 the place belonged to the district of Opole . Then the previously German place came under Polish administration and was renamed Dąbrówka Górna and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship .

Attractions

  • The Dombrowka Castle received its current neo-baroque appearance between the years 1907 and 1909. The history of the castle complex dates back to the 14th century. After the Second World War, the castle was sacked by Soviet soldiers. In the meantime it was used as a stable, later as a health education center. From the 1980s the castle stood empty until it was bought by a private person in 1993 and converted into a hotel. A large park also belongs to the castle itself.
  • A statue of Nepomuk from 1719 is located opposite the palace complex at a bus stop on Opolska Street .
  • St. Rochus Church
