geography

Pietna is located south of Żywocice , on the right bank of the Osobłoga ( Hotzenplotz ), which flows into the Oder at Krappitz . There are several ponds as well as agricultural and forest areas in the vicinity.

history

The village was probably laid out in the 13th century, as evidenced by finds of pieces of vessels from that time. Further traces of human settlements can be found in several places. On a memorial stone in the center of the village, the year 1298 is given as the year of foundation or the earliest mention.

The village belonging to the Duchy of Opole was called Laschic in the Middle Ages . Other forms of this name are Laschkowic , Lascicz and Laschicze . The name Pieten has been used since 1550 . The spelling Pietna was first mentioned in 1784. The place name probably goes back to the relief of the surrounding area. It is believed that the name denotes the foot of a hill. Another possibility is the origin of the name of a drinking place for water, which was called Pitna .

From 1816 to 1945 Pietna belonged to the district of Neustadt OS and was incorporated into the Stiebendorf district from January 1, 1874.

In 1845 the village had 220 inhabitants, 26 of whom were Protestant. There were 38 houses, an estate, an inn, a water mill and a sawmill on the Hotzenplotz. There were also two blacksmiths in Pietna.

On June 15, 1936, the name was changed to Teichgrund. Since it is located in the area east of the Oder-Neisse line , it was placed under Polish administration after the Second World War, following the decisions of the Potsdam Agreement of August 2, 1945, and the previous place name Pietna was reintroduced. Until the administrative reform of 1956, Pietna belonged to the powiat Prudnicki and then to the newly established powiat Krapkowicki . Pietna has also been part of the Krapkowice district and rural community since 1956.

In the last few years several measures have been taken to improve the general appearance of the village. In 2005 Pietna won the “Piękna Wieś Opolska” ( Beautiful Opole Village ) competition.

Local partnerships

Memorial stone: Pietna – Mittelhof partnership

Pietna has had a partnership with the Mittelhof community in the Wissen association since August 2002 . The partnership, which was officially confirmed on May 30, 2003, came about on the initiative of the residents of Pietna, who sought a partnership with a German community. Since the city of Krappitz already has a long partnership with the city of Wissen , a community was sought in the Wissen association and finally a partner was found in Mittelhof.
