Cupped man / man

Kuppenmänchen from the east

On the north flank is a two to three meter high phonolite column. This looks like a person and is therefore called Kuppenmann or Kuppenmännchen . It is the symbol of Dalherda. According to legend, the rock formation is about the giant Kuprian, who petrified at this point out of grief and suffering because the knight of Ebersberg had stolen his beautiful daughter from him. The little Kuppenmännchen was probably destroyed by the troops practicing, because one day it was found in all individual blocks . Adolf Kreuzpaintner made sure that the parts were put back together and that the little Kuppenmännchen can still be seen as such today.

Part of the 70 km² Wildflecken military training area is located on the Dalherdakuppe ; therefore it is a restricted military area and not freely accessible. A 3.40 meter high cross was erected on the summit on September 4, 2010 as part of a service with Pastor Gridmann from Dalherda. The blacksmith Helmut Möller from Motten originally made it for the Pilsterfelsen near Kothen . But after the construction there was rejected, Möller donated it to the Dalherda hilltop.
