Dani Felber
Dani Felber (born February 10, 1972 in Münsterlingen ) is a Swiss jazz musician. He works as a band leader, flugelhorn player , trumpeter , composer and arranger.
Musical career
Dani Felber studied from 1995 to 2001 at the Swiss Jazz School in Bern. Throughout his studies he was a member of the Swiss Jazz School Big Band under the direction of Bert Joris . With this band he accompanied guest soloists such as Bob Mintzer , John Lewis , Johnny Griffin , Jimmy Heath , Phil Woods , Franco Ambrosetti and Clark Terry as well as the New York Voices at various jazz festivals in Germany, Italy, the USA and Switzerland. In 1998 he accompanied Clark Terry in this formation on a US tour with concerts in New York's Birdland and in Blues Alley in Washington, DC
In 2000 Felber played in the Generations Festival Big Band in Frauenfeld under the direction of Peter Herbolzheimer . Benny Golson was the guest soloist .
Since 2001 he has been playing with his various formations at jazz festivals, large galas and tours all over Europe, England, America and Africa. In 2017 he developed his own trumpet model with the Swiss blower company HAAG. In December 2017 he played (alongside Peter Maffay and Olga Peretyatko ) as a trumpet soloist, accompanied by Brass for Peace , in the ZDF Christmas program from the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem.
In 2019 Dani Felber will be invited as a soloist by US bassist Nik West for several concerts at festivals in Germany, Switzerland and Italy.
Band leader
As a band leader, Felber orients himself primarily towards Count Basie. For his concerts and productions he brings in the best musicians from all over the world, such as Butch Miles , Eric Marienthal , Brad Leali , Andrea Tofanelli and others for his jazz quartet, big band or orchestra . v. a.
Different sizes were accompanied by him: Al Porcino , Carmen Bradford , Lyambiko , Betina Ignacio , Paul Kuhn , Hazy Osterwald , Bill Ramsey , Joe Haider , Roberto Blanco , Nicolas Senn , Bo Katzmann , Maya Brunner , Leo Wundergut , Avo Uvezian etc.
Trumpeter / flugelhorn player
As a soloist he has been compared to Clark Terry and Chuck Mangione in CD reviews by Al Porcino and George Robert on the flugelhorn and yet he has his own personal touch. He loves the soft, warm flugelhorn sound as a contrast to his strong trumpet movement. But he often plays the trumpet in a small cast.
Composer / arranger
As a composer and arranger, Felber orients himself towards Frank Foster and Sammy Nestico . Felber was friends with Foster and dedicated the album "Thank you, Fos!" To him. Felber visited Sammy Nestico in Carlsbad USA in 2013 to discuss and realize a new recording. Felber has composed about 50 big band pieces including: Trip to Sammy, Thank you, Fos !, More than just Friends, Sinas Dream, One two three, This is for my Friend Andrea Tofanelli, Hey Carina etc.
producer
Felber produced all of his albums himself. In 2015 he founded his own label Dani Felber Records .
