Daniel Kofoed Nielsen (born October 31, 1980 in Herning ) is a Danish ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Herning Blue Fox in the Metal Ligaen since July 2014 .
Career
Daniel Nielsen began his career as a hockey player with the Herning Blue Fox , for which he was active in the AL-Bank Ligaen from 1998 to 2007 . During this time he and his team became Danish champions in 2001, 2003, 2005 and 2007, as well as runner-up in 2000 and third in 2002. In 2006 he was also elected to the All-Star Team of the AL-Bank Ligaen. He was also named the best Danish player in the AL-Bank Ligaen in the 2006/07 season. He was then committed by Leksands IF from HockeyAllsvenskan , the second Swedish division. After he failed with the team in the Kvalserien to rise to the Elitserien , he returned to Herning after a year. With the team he was then again runner-up in the 2008/09 season and in 2011 Danish champion for the fifth time. In 2009 and 2011 he was re-elected to the All-Star Team of the AL-Bank Ligaen.
For the 2011/12 season , Nielsen was signed by the Hamburg Freezers from the German Ice Hockey League and in the following three years played over 170 DEL games for the Freezers. He returned to the Blue Fox in July 2014.
International
For Denmark , Nielsen took part in the junior division at the U18 Junior B European Championships in 1997 and 1998 and the U20 Junior B World Championships in 1999 and 2000 . In the senior sector, he was part of his country's squad at the B World Cup in 2002 and the A World Championships in 2003 , 2004 , 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 , 2011 and 2012 . He also played for Denmark in the qualifying tournaments for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin and 2010 in Vancouver .
