Daniela Krukower

Daniela Yael Krukower (born January 6, 1975 ) is a former Argentine judoka . In 2003 she was world champion in the light middleweight division, the weight class up to 63 kg.

Athletic career

The 1.75 m wide Daniela Krukower 1997 was third in the Maccabiah . In 1999 she lost in the final of the Pan American Championships against the Canadian Sophie Roberge . At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, she defeated Mariama Sonah Bah from Guinea in the first round . After losing to the British Kate Howey in the round of 16 and the Dutch Edith Bosch in the Hope Round, Krukower finished ninth.

At the South American Games in 2002 Krukower lost in the final to the Brazilian Cristiane Parmigiano . Two months later she was defeated by the Brazilian Érica Moraes in the finals of the South American Light Middleweight Championships. Krukower also competed in the open class and won a bronze medal here. Another month later, she won bronze at the Pan American Championships. In June 2003 she won the Pan American Championships, in the final she defeated Grace Ividen from the United States. In August 2003 Krukower lost in the semi-finals of the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo to the Cuban Driulis González , by defeating the Mexican Miriam Ruíz Krukower secured a bronze medal. In September 2003 at the World Championships in Osaka Krukower defeated the Slovenian Urška Žolnir in the first round , followed by the French Lucie Décosse in the second round and the Czech Danuse Zdeňková in the quarter-finals . After her semi-final victory over the Italian Ylenia Scapin , Krukower faced the Cuban Driulis González in the final, this time Krukower won and was the first Argentine judo world champion. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Krukower defeated Lucie Décosse in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals she was defeated by the Japanese Ayumi Tanimoto and in the battle for bronze she was defeated by Driulis González.

In 2005 and 2006, Krukower won bronze at the Pan American Championships, in 2007 she reached the final and received the silver medal after her loss to Driulis González. At the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, she lost to the Brazilian Danielli Barbosa in the semifinals , with a victory over Marti Malloy from the United States, Krukower secured a bronze medal. She also won bronze at the Pan American Championships in 2008. At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, she defeated the Australian Catherine Arlove in the first round and then lost to the North Korean Won Ok-im . In the hope round, Krukower was eliminated against the Dutchwoman Elisabeth Willeboordse and took ninth place. In 2009 Daniela Krukower won the Pan American Championships in Buenos Aires at the end of her career.
