Daniele Caimmi

Daniele Caimmi (born December 17, 1972 in Jesi ) is an Italian long-distance runner who specializes in the marathon .

Life

In 1996 he finished seventh in the Maratona d'Italia and in 1998 second in the Venice Marathon . In 1999 he improved himself as thirteenth in the Rotterdam Marathon to 2:11:29 h and came in tenth place at the 1999 World Athletics Championships in Seville.

In 2000 he was national champion over 10,000 m , but did not come at the Olympic Games in Sydney over the heat.

The following year he finished sixth in the Turin Marathon and third in the Venice Marathon. In 2002 this was followed by fourth places at Roma - Ostia , the Rome Marathon and the European Athletics Championships in Munich, as well as third place at the Milan Marathon with his personal record of 2:08:59.

In 2003 a victory at the Turin Marathon was followed by sixth place at the World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis . His start at the 2004 Olympic Games marathon in Athens was a disaster , when he crossed the finish line with a back injury in 52nd place.

After a year and a half, he returned to competition and in 2006 came second in the Rome Marathon and sixth in the Venice Marathon. The following year he was fourth in the Turin marathon and third in the Florence marathon , in which he came fifth in 2009.

In 2010 he finished second in the Treviso Marathon in 2:12:49, at the same time as the winner, his friend Ottaviano Andriani , and came 31st at the European Championships in Barcelona .

Daniele Caimmi is 1.80 m tall and weighs 60 kg. The trained mechanic was trained first by Romano Tordelli and then by Massimo Magnani and starts for Fiamme Gialle. He has been married to his fellow runner Rosaria Console since 2004 .
