Career

Clubs

Darius Pliskauskas began his career as a ice hockey player with the Lithuanian record champions Energija Elektrėnai , for whom he made his debut in the then East European Hockey League in 1997 at the age of 17 . In the 2000/01 season he was also on the ice for HK Nyoman Hrodna in the EEHL and also won the Belarusian championship with the team from the border triangle with Poland and Lithuania . The following year he played in the second Russian division with Jantar Seversk . After only one year in Siberia, he returned to his hometown and was active again for SC Energija, but also played individual games for the Belarusian HK Wizebsk . In 2003 he moved again to Hrodna , which he left during the current season to move to the top Latvian club HK Liepājas Metalurgs , for whom he competed in the Latvian league as well as in the EEHL and later the Belarusian extra league. The 2006/07 season he spent half at the Edinburgh Capitals in the British Elite Ice Hockey League and again at HK Njoman Hrodna in the Extraliga. After two more years in Liepāja , where he was Latvian champion in both 2008 and 2009 , he moved back to the British Isles in 2009, where he worked for the Edinburgh Capitals again for half a year and then for the rest of the 2009/10 season Romford Raiders from London played in the English Premier Ice Hockey League . From there he went to the southern English league competitor Slough Jets , with whom he not only won the league in 2012, he was also elected to the Secand All-Star team. In December 2013 he moved to the Peterborough Phantoms in the east of the island. In 2015 he won the EPIHL with the Phantoms. After the dissolution of the EPIHL in 2017, he moved with his club to the National Ice Hockey League , which is now the second tier of the British league system.

International

For Lithuania, Pliskauskas has already participated in the junior division in world and European championships.

He made his debut in the Lithuanian men's national team at the C-World Championship in Beijing in 2000 , when the Lithuanians made it into the newly created Division I in fourth. There he could not prevent the relegation of the Balts, who lost the game against the Netherlands , which was decisive for relegation, just 3-2. A year later , with five wins from five games and 71: 6 goals, the immediate return to Division I. Pliskauskas contributed significantly to the rise with eight goals and seven assists. But even at the 2003 World Cup , relegation in Division I could not be achieved. Group B of Division II of the 2004 World Cup was then held in his hometown Elektrėnai and Pliskauskas promptly succeeded with his team in the renewed promotion to Division I. At the World Cup in 2005 , the Lithuanians were then able to defeat Romania and two draws against the The Netherlands and their neighbor Estonia claim for the first time in Division I, in which Pliskauskas was then also on the ice in 2006 , when he was the top scorer and best assist provider of the tournament, in 2007 , 2010 , 2011 , 2012 , 2013 , 2014 , 2015 and 2017 . Only in 2008, 2009 and 2016 was his name missing from the Lithuanian World Cup line-up.
