The Testament is the debut album of the German music project E Nomine . It was released on November 15, 1999 on What's Up? !, Zeitgeist and Polydor labels . On November 25, 2002 a “ digitally remastered ” version and a “Special Gold Edition” of the album were released.

The album was produced by E-Nomine members Christian Weller and Fritz Graner and licensee David Brunner . All three also acted as executive producers .
Involved speakers
The lyrics of the songs on the album are spoken by five well-known German voice actors. These are Christian Brückner (voice of Robert De Niro ), Joachim Kerzel (voice of Jack Nicholson and Dustin Hoffman ), Martin Keßler (voice of Nicolas Cage and Vin Diesel ), Frank Glaubrecht (voice of Al Pacino , Pierce Brosnan and Kevin Costner ) and Thomas Danneberg (voice of John Travolta , Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger ).
Cover design
The album cover shows the inside of a church, which is lit by rays of the sun. In the upper part of the picture there is the white lettering E Nomine and the title Das Testament in light brown. The background is black. The special edition is only adorned with a drawn black cross behind which there is a golden light source. The majority of the cover is in black and in the upper part is the golden lettering E Nomine and the title The Testament in white.

The will rose to number 23 in the German album charts on November 29, 1999 and was ranked 47th in the following two weeks. Overall, the album stayed in the top 100 with one interruption for 21 weeks. In Austria and Switzerland the Place sound carriers in the charts.
The first single was the song Vater Unser . It reached position 4 in the German charts, stayed in the top 100 for 18 weeks and was awarded a gold record for more than 250,000 copies sold . In Austria, the song was at the top of the chart for three weeks and also received gold for over 15,000 sales. The second single E Nomine (For they know not what they do) appeared end of February 2000, reached number 29 in the charts and was able to keep seven weeks in the top 100th
