Date A Live ( Japanese デ ー ト ・ ア ・ ラ イ ブ Dēto A Raibu ) is a Japanese light novel series by Kōshi Tachibana and illustrated by Tsunako . The work has also been adapted into several manga , anime series, anime feature films and computer games.

action

Thirty years ago, large parts of Eurasia were devastated by a space quake that cost 150 million lives. Since then, these earthquakes have appeared again and again worldwide, albeit on a much smaller scale, and have destroyed cities. When the student Shidō Itsuka tries to rescue his sister during a space quake evacuation, who according to GPS is in the area to be evacuated, he meets a strange girl in a crater. Manga

The series of novels was adapted into several manga series.

The first was drawn by Ringo and appeared from April 26 (issue 6/2012) 2012 in Kadokawa Shoten's manga magazine Shōnen Ace , until Ringo had to cancel it on December 26, 2012 (issue 2/2013) for health reasons. The chapters were summarized in an anthology ( Tankōbon ).

On November 26, 2013 (issue 1/2014), another series started in the same magazine, this time drawn by Sekihiko Inui , ran until October 26, 2014 (issue 12/2014) and resulted in three edited volumes.

From Kakashi Oniyazu comes the offshoot Date AST Like ( デ ー ト ・ ア ・ ス ト ラ イ ク , Dēto A Sutoraiku ), which depicts the plot from the point of view of AST, in particular Origami Tobiichi and her subordinate Mikie Okamine. Television series

Fujimi Shobō had the novel adapted as an anime series for the 40th anniversary of the publishing house by the studio AIC Plus + . In the USA the series were licensed by Funimation , both of which were streamed with English subtitles during the Japanese broadcast, the second also as a simulcast .

In the German-speaking countries, the anime series were licensed by Animoon Publishing and broadcast in the evening program on ProSieben Maxx . The first series aired from April 19 to June 28, 2019, Date A Live II has been aired since August 27, 2019.

On September 23, 2019, two anime projects, including an anime adaptation of the light novel spinoff series Date A Live Fragment: Date A Bullet , were announced. The second project is the production of the fourth season, which covers volumes 13 to 15 of the main light novel series. This project was officially confirmed on March 16, 2020.

Motion picture

At the end of the second series, a movie was announced that was shown in Japanese theaters on August 22, 2015 under the title Gekijōban Date A Live: Mayuri Judgment ( 劇場版 デ ー ト ・ ア ・ ラ イ ブ 万 由 里 ジ ジ ャ ッ ジ メ ン inos ). This contains its own plot designed by Kōshi Tachibana.

On November 18, 2019, a German dubbing for the film and a German cinema release were announced.

The soundtrack for the series comes from Gō Sakabe and was released on six CDs: Date A Music: First Half on June 5, 2013 with 28 tracks, Date A Music: Second Half on June 26, 2013 with 26 tracks and Date A Music: Extension with 20 titles - most of which belong to the game Date A Live: Rinne Utopia - on August 7, 2013 for the first series, as well as for the second series Date A “Extreme” Music , Date A “Impressive” Music with 20 titles each on July 23, 2014 and Date A “Happy” Music on August 20, 2014 with 28 tracks.

The first series used the opening credits Date A Live sung by sweet ARMS , a group of voice actors Iori Nomizu, Misuzu Togashi, Kaori Sadobara and Misato, who performed on the occasion of the anime Upotte !! but they also spoke roles in Date A Live . The single from May 20, 2013 narrowly missed entry into the top 10 of the Oricon charts with position 11 . The credits used for episodes 1 and 13 were Hatsukoi Winding Road sung by Risako Murai , Kayako Tsumita and Midori Tsukimiya , who played the roles of the students Ai, Mai, Mii; for episodes 3, 7, 9 and 11 Save My Heart , for episode 5 Strawberry Rain ( ス ト ロ ベ リ ー レ イ ン , Sutoroberī Rein ) and for the even episodes Save The World , each with Iori Nomizu as the singer. The second series used the opening credits Trust in you by sweet ARMS, and the credits Day to Story sung by Kaori Sadobara. The singles published on May 19, 2014 climbed to number 17 and 26 respectively. In episodes 6 and 7 there was also monochrome and in episode 10 My Treasure , both sung by Minori Chihara in her role as Miku.

The film's theme song Invisible Date was also sung by sweet ARMS.

Computer games

Three console games were released for Date A Live. Date A Live: Rinne Utopia ( デ ー ト ・ ア ・ ラ イ ブ 凛 祢 ユ ー ト ピ ア , ~: Rinne Yūtopia ) went on sale in Japan on June 27, 2013. This was developed by Compile Heart for the PlayStation 3 and published by Idea Factory . This contains a new plot that is located between the fourth and fifth volume of the novel, with the character Rinne Sonogami ( 園 神 凜 祢 ) - spoken by Kana Hanazawa - as the female protagonist.

The successor Date A Live: Ars Install ( デ ー ト ・ ア ・ ラ イ ブ 或 守 イ ン ス ト ー ル , ~: Arusu Insutōru ) by the same developer and also for the PS3 was released on June 26, 2014 and also worked with Maria Arusu ( 或 守 鞠 亜 ) - spoken by Suzuko Mimori - a new female protagonist who must be conquered. In both games, Kōshi Tachibana was involved in developing the plot.

A third game called Date A Live Twin Edition: Rio Reincarnation ( デ ー ト ・ ア ・ ラ イ ブ Twin Edition 凜 緒 リ ン カ ー ネ イ シ ョ ン , ~: Rio Rinkāneishon ) has been announced for PS Vita on July 20, 2015 . This combines both of the aforementioned games and adds another chapter with Rio Reincarnation with another new character named Rio ( 凜 緒 ) - spoken by Ayane Sakura .

In January 2019, Compile Heart announced a new title for the series called Date A Live: Ren Dystopia (デ ー ト ・ ア ・ ラ イ ブ 蓮 デ ィ ス ト ピ ア, ~: Ren Disutopia ) for the PlayStation 4 . It was originally planned to be released in summer 2019, but was later postponed to 2020.

In July 2019, Idea Factory International, Inc. re-released the previously released games under the name Date A Live: Rio Reincarnation (デ ー ト ・ ア ・ ラ イ ブ 凜 緒 リ ン カ ー ネ イ シ ョ ン HD, ~: Rio Rinkāneishon HD ) for PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam .
