Dawid Issakowitsch Bedschanjan ( Russian Давид Исакович Беджанян ; born December 16, 1988 in Bolshoi Kamen ) is a Russian weightlifter of Armenian origin. He was European champion in 2012 and 2013 and vice- world champion in 2013 , both in the heavyweight division .

Career

Dawid Bedschanjan comes from Solnechnopodolsk and started lifting weights there as a teenager. He is now a student at the State Agricultural University in Stavropol .

As a junior, he was already among the top Russian classes and represented his country for the first time in 2007 at an international championship. He took 3rd place in a duel at the European Junior Championships (U 20) in Puerto de la Cruz / Spain in the heavyweight division with 377 kg (164-212). At the Junior World Championships (U 20) in June 2008 in Cali , Dawid Bedschanjan achieved 375 kg (165-219) in a duel, but only reached 4th place. He then made a considerable leap in performance up to the European Junior Championships (U 20) in Durres in 2008 . He achieved there in the heavyweight 394 kg (169-225) and won his first international title.

At the Russian Junior Championship (U 23) in July 2009, he first reached more than 400 kg in a duel. He achieved in a duel 410 kg (180-230), with which he won in a superior style. At the Junior European Championships (U 23) in 2009 in Władysławowo he was no longer in quite as good shape, the 391 kg (170-221) received from him in a duel were enough to win because of the lighter body weight in front of Daniel Dolega , Poland also came to 391 kg (180–209).

2010 Dawid Bedschanjan started for the first time in the Russian Senior Championship. He came to 396 kg (176–220) and took 5th place. In November 2010 he won the European Junior Championships (U 23) in Limassol , where he again exceeded the 400 kg limit with 404 kg (179-225).

At the Russian championship 2011 he increased again. He achieved there 415 kg (185-230) and finished with this performance behind Dmitri Klokow , 427 kg (195-232) and Vladimir Smortschkow , 420 kg (195-225) in 3rd place. In November of the same year he set a world record in pushing with 238 kg as part of the President's Cup in Belgorod . He won there in the heavyweight division with 421 kg (183-238) in front of his compatriot Gennadi Muratow , 406 kg (185-221).

In 2012, Dawid Bedschanjan became the first Russian senior champion. He won the heavyweight division with 410 kg (180-230) in front of Gennady Muratow, 403 kg (182-221). In Antalya he was then also European heavyweight champion. His performance in the duel there was 405 kg (185-220), with which he won before his compatriot Maxim Schejko , 401 kg (185-216). At the Olympic Games in London that year, he was not used.

In April 2013 Dawid Bedschanjan was again European champion in Tirana with achieved 411 kg (181-230). In July 2013 he started at the Universiade in Kazan . He came there to 403 kg (179-224) and had to admit defeat to the Uzbek Ruslan Nurudinow , who achieved 412 kg (190-224). In October 2013 he made his first start at a world championship. He came here in Wrocław in a duel on 405 kg (190-225). With this performance he won behind Ruslan Nurudinow, who achieved the 425 kg (190-235) the World Cup silver medal.

In 2014 he did not start at the European Championships in Tel Aviv. But he was in August 2014 in Grozny Russian champion in a duel with an excellent 426 kg (185-241). His thrusting performance was a Russian record. In 2015 Dawid Bedschanjan won the Russian championship again.
