Dax Randall Shepard (born January 2, 1975 in Milford , Michigan ) is an American actor , film director and screenwriter .

Life and accomplishments

Shepard attended Walled Lake Central High School in Walled Lake, Michigan and studied anthropology at the University of California, Los Angeles . He made his debut in the 1998 comedy Crazy About Corey . In the 2003 comedy Cheaper by the Dozen , he starred opposite Steve Martin , Bonnie Hunt and Piper Perabo . For his appearance on the television series Punk'd , in which he improvised in front of the camera, he was nominated for the Teen Choice Award in 2003 .

In the adventure comedy Trouble Without Paddles (2004) he already took on one of the bigger roles, he played another bigger role in the fantasy film Zathura - An Adventure in Space (2005) by Jon Favreau . In the science fiction comedy Idiocracy (2006) he starred alongside Luke Wilson . In the comedy Employee of the Month (2006) he played the cashier Vince Downey , who fights against his colleague Zack Bradley ( Dane Cook ) for the coveted title of employee of the month .

Dax has been dating actress Kristen Bell since November 2007 , whom he married in October 2013. The couple have two daughters.
