Dead Alone is a melancholic death metal band from the Munich area ( Bavaria ).

history

Dead Alone was founded in Miesbach in 2004 . In 2005 the first demo Inhumanity From Inside appeared , which was recorded on their own. In 2006 the debut album Slivering Marrow followed , which was recorded in the Mediabase Studios under the direction of Jürgen Plangger ( A Life Divided , Eisbrecher ). After Stefan Leitner and Johannes Seestaller left, the EP Phobia was released in 2008 , with Johannes Thoma playing drums. Like its predecessor, Phobia was realized in the Mediabase Studios.

After the release of the EP, a new guitarist joined the band in Fred Freundorfer and Sebastian Bichler followed on drums for Johannes Thoma, who had left the band. In 2010, the second album Vitium was released in this constellation . In 2012 Dead Alone signed a record deal with the Supreme Chaos Records label , on which the third album Ad Infinitum was released. Ad Infinitum was recorded at Grotesque Studios under the direction of Sebastian Moser and includes a guest contribution by Mick ( Destinity ).

In 2014 the band started recording their fourth album called Nemesis . The drums were recorded in the Devasoundz Studios in Athens under the direction of Fotis Benardo (Ex-Septicflesh, Chaostar). The rest of the recordings were made, as with Ad Infinitum , again in the Munich Grotesque Studios together with Sebastian Moser. For the song The Awakening , Christos Antoniou ( Septicflesh , Chaostar) contributed orchestral arrangements. In December 2014 Sebastian Bichler left the band and was replaced by Franz Müller on drums.

Since its inception, the band has played at some major festivals such as Metalfest Austria 2011 or Extremefest 2012. In addition, many support shows for bands such as Vader , Agrypnie , Der Weg einer Freiheit , Heretoir , Omnium Gatherum , Mercenary and Belphegor followed .

style

The songs are mostly based on melodic Death Metal , with a lot of influences from Doom, Thrash and Black Metal. Bands like Dark Tranquility , Bolt Thrower , Insomnium or My Dying Bride can be cited as influences.

The texts mostly deal with personal feelings and impressions and often deal with the abyss of the human soul and the end in general.

reception

The last two albums in particular, Nemesis and Ad Infinitum , received mostly positive feedback:
Metalunderground.at: “ 10 years in Death Metal events and not a bit tired. Furthermore, the guys from Dead Alone are working on their Death Baby that can be heard. Nemesis is much more Black Death heavy than you could have guessed. The pithy, classy death sound puts you in a good mood and the guys draw on the full potential. There is no boring copying here, but rather one's own death innovation is unpacked and continued to be pushed. "

Marcus Manuel from Legacy Magazine wrote: "DEAD ALONE has succeeded in creating a mature, compact and completely independent album, which is characterized by its rousing catchiness with a rather doomy-gloomy mood."

Stephan Möller from metal.de has the following words on this: “No, maybe DEAD ALONE won't reinvent the wheel - but they disassemble it completely and put it back together in their own way, so that 'Ad Infinitum' is Death Metal, Thrash Metal, Progressive Metal, Doom Metal, Melo Death, sometimes even Hard Rock combined without sounding inhomogeneous.
