Dean Fedorchuk (born July 28, 1970 in Winnipeg , Manitoba ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player ( striker ) and current coach .
Career
As a player
Fedorchuk began his career in the 1990/91 season in the National Collegiate Athletic Association for the University of Alaska Fairbanks , where he played for four years. His next club were the Dayton Bombers from the East Coast Hockey League .
He then moved to the Kalamazoo Wings in the IHL , before coming to Germany for the 1995/96 season to play for the EHC Neuwied in the first division . With the club, Fedorchuk won the championship in the 1996/97 and 1997/98 seasons and also the DEB League Cup in 1997 . After the EHC Neuwied filed for bankruptcy in the 1999/00 season , he moved to the Heilbronner Falken within the 2nd Bundesliga . A year later, Fedorchuk played for the league rivals SC Bietigheim-Bissingen , before he ran up from the 2001/02 season in the ranks of Danish ice hockey clubs in the AL-Bank Ligaen . There he played for two years for the Vojens Lions , who then renamed themselves IK Sønderjylland and finally from 2004 to 2006 after the club was taken over by the Sønderjysk Elitesport for their newly created ice hockey department SønderjyskE Ishockey . From 2006 to 2008 the Canadian played for his league rivals Odense Bulldogs .
As a trainer and functionary
After his playing career with the Bulldogs, he coached the club until January 2010 and then became a manager. For the 2010/11 season he should be coach of the Kassel Huskies in the DEL . However, the club was excluded from the DEL before the start of the season. Between January 31, 2011 and the end of the season, Fedorchuk was head coach of the DEL Club Straubing Tigers , replacing Jürgen Rumrich , who had been dismissed . Between 2011 and 2013, Fedorchuk worked as a scout for the Winnipeg Jets . He was then hired by the KHL Medveščak Zagreb as an assistant coach and was there until the end of the 2014/15 season.
End of June 2017 he was assistant coach of HC Friborg-Gottéron from the National League A committed. In October 2019 he was released after a series of defeats.
