Adelheid Theresia Antonia Michaela Lidwina Freiin von Boeselager (born December 17, 1942 in Bonn ) is a German archaeologist , art historian and author.

Life

Origin and education

Dela, whose full name is Adelheid Theresia Antonia Michaela Lidwina Freiin von Boeselager, is the second child of the married couple Sophie Freifrau von Boeselager , née Countess Wolff-Metternich zur Gracht (1913–2014), and Hermann-Josef Freiherr von Boeselager (1919–1963) was born. She traveled to New York on a scholarship and studied Classical Archeology and Art History at the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University . While studying in New York, she met Csilla von Fényes in 1966 . She completed her studies in New York as a Master of Arts (MA), returned to Europe and continued her studies at the University of Basel . The close friendship that she had with Csilla von Fényes was further strengthened when Csilla married her cousin Wolfhard von Boeselager in 1973 . In 1977 Dela von Boeselager was in Basel with Karl Schefold with a doctoral thesis on antique mosaics in Sicily. Hellenism and Roman Empire for Dr. phil. PhD .

Profession and Charity

She then worked as a research assistant at the German Archaeological Institute in Rome . In 1981 she wrote the exhibition catalog 3000 Years of Glass Art. From Antiquity to Art Nouveau for the Kunstmuseum Luzern and in 1983 she published her doctoral thesis from 1977 at the publisher Giorgio Bretschneider Editore in Rome. She then worked at the Roman-Germanic Museum of the City of Cologne and the High Cathedral in Cologne and published relevant monographs and treatises in the Bonner Jahrbuch , the Kölner Domblatt , Gnomon and the Kölner Jahrbuch für Pre- und Frühgeschichte .

The 420-page monograph Roman Glasses from Graves on Luxemburger Strasse in Cologne , which appeared in the Cologne Yearbook in 2012 , was published in 2013 by Gebr. Mann Verlag as a special edition in Berlin. In 2015 she wrote a treatise on the treasure find with 9000 Turnosgroschen from the Boeselager Hof .

In February 1988 she accompanied Csilla von Boeselager to Budapest when she handed over one of her first aid transports to Pastor Imre Kozma in Budapest-Zugliget. Dela von Boeselager followed Csilla's active commitment during the political change in Budapest in 1989 and the establishment of the Hungarian Order of Malta (Magyar Máltai Szeretet Szolgálat - MMSZ) with great sympathy. After finishing her professional life, she increasingly joined the Csilla von Boeselager Stiftung Osteuropa e. V. , which has continued since Csilla's death in February 1994.
