Demirköy ( Turkish for iron village ), ( Bulgarian Малък Самоков / Malak Samokow) is a Turkish town in eastern Thrace and the capital of the district of the same name in the province of Kırklareli . The place is located in the foothills of the Yıldız Mountains and used to be a Bulgarian-Greek village. Demirköy is located about 45 km east of the provincial town of Kırklareli on the D565 highway.

The district borders in the south on the district Vize , in the southwest on the district Pınarhisar and in the west on the central district ( Merkez ) Kırklareli. In the north is the border with Bulgaria .

The district is sparsely populated (10 inhabitants per km²) and, in addition to the district town (218: 27.4% of the district population), consists of another municipality (Belediye): İğneada with 2,694 inhabitants and 15 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 200 inhabitants. The population ranges from 509 ( Sivriler ) to 36 ( İncesırt ).

The region is very wooded and well suited for trekking . At 2720 m, the Dupnisa stalactite cave is one of the longest in Turkey.
