Demirkanat ( Turkish for iron wing ) is an almost deserted village in Kiğı County in the Turkish province of Bingöl . The distance to Kiğı is approx. 18 km.
In 1967 250 inhabitants were counted. In 1985 the population had dropped to 190 people. In the mid-1990s, Demirkanat was almost or completely burned down and evacuated. In 2009 a man lived in the village.
Demirkanat was listed as a mezra under the name Uzan Meşhed in Ottoman documents of the 16th century . This name is also recorded in the land register in the form Uzunmaşat. Both the names Akkan and Uzunmaşat are used as alternative names in the 1970 census.
