Demre (until 2005 also Kale ) is a city in the district of the same name in the Turkish province of Antalya and at the same time a district of the Büyükşehir belediyesi Antalya (metropolitan municipality / metropolitan province ) created in 1993 . The place was raised to a municipality ( Belediye ) on June 6, 1968 .
geography
Demre lies on the edge of the western part of the Taurus Mountains on the Lycian coast . While the mountains are mostly forested, agriculture is practiced near the coast.
