Dennis Alexander Everberg (born December 31, 1991 in Västerås ) is a Swedish ice hockey player who has been under contract with Rögle BK in the Svenska Hockeyligan again since 2019 and plays there in the position of right winger . With the Swedish national team , he won the gold medal at the 2017 and 2018 world championships . His father Paul Andersson Everberg was also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Everberg comes from the youth department of VIK Västerås HK , the club in his hometown. From 2007 the striker ran for Rögle BK - first for the U18 juniors, later the U20 team in the J20 SuperElit and from 2009 for the first time for the men's team in the Elitserien . After the club was relegated from the top Swedish division to the second-rate Allsvenskan , Everberg established himself in the regular squad at the beginning of the 2010/11 season . At the end of the 2011/12 season , the return to the Swedish House of Lords succeeded with the promotion. The attacker stayed in Rögle for two more years despite being relegated again the following season.

In May 2014, the Colorado Avalanche from the National Hockey League (NHL) finally secured the services of the undrafted free agent for two years . Everberg immediately made it to the NHL squad via the training camp and - in addition to some games in the American Hockey League - played a total of 55 games for the Avalanche. After suffering a shoulder injury in April 2015, the Swede was unable to secure a place in the Avalanche squad at the beginning of the 2015/16 season , which meant that he mainly played for the San Antonio Rampage in the AHL.

After his contract expired at the end of the season, the restricted free agent waived a contract offer from Avalanche and returned to his home country. In May 2016 he signed a contract with Växjö Lakers Hockey from Svenska Hockeyligan .

At the 2017 World Cup , he won the gold medal with the Swedish selection. In the 2016/17 season Everberg was initially under contract with HK Awangard Omsk before he was handed over to Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk in December 2017 in exchange for Chad Rau . This was followed by another gold medal at the 2018 World Cup .

Everberg made his return to the NHL in July 2018 when he signed a one-year deal with the Winnipeg Jets . The Jets only used him on their farm team , the Manitoba Moose , before his contract was terminated in November 2018. A few days later, EV Zug from the Swiss National League announced the attacker, who signed a contract until the end of the 2018/19 season.
