Derrick Johnson O'Hara (* 22. November 1982 in Waco , Texas ) is a former American American football poker players in the National Football League (NFL). He played as a middle linebacker for the Kansas City Chiefs from 2005 to 2017 and joined the Oakland Raiders in 2018 .

college

Johnson excelled in athletics while in high school , but ultimately decided to follow the lead of his older brother Dwight, who played in the NFL for two seasons, and chose football. He attended the University of Texas and played college football for their team, the Longhorns, with great success . He has been repeatedly appointed to various selection teams and has received a number of prizes, including the renowned Bronko Nagurski Trophy and the Jack Lambert Trophy in 2004 .

NFL

Kansas City Chiefs

In the NFL Draft 2005 he was elected 15th overall in the first round and was able to convince from the start. In his rookie season he was used as a starter in all 16 games , setting 95 tackles and scoring 2.0 sacks . In the following seasons he always showed good performances, for which he was nominated for the Pro Bowl in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2015 . In 2014 he tore his Achilles tendon in his first game and had to take a break for the rest of the season.
Even after his injury, he remained a reliable pillar of the Chiefs defense .

Oakland Raiders

In May 2018 he signed a one-year contract with the Oakland Raiders , but was released on October 16, 2018.

On May 9, 2019, he announced his resignation. He had received a contract from the Chiefs for that one day so that he could say goodbye to active sport as a member of this team.
