German national badminton team
The German national badminton team is the entirety of the federal cadre of the German Badminton Association (DBV) . In it you will find German athletes who represent the Federal Republic of Germany both nationally and internationally in badminton sport in both individual and team competitions .
history
The first DBV squad was launched in 1953. The first international team match took place on January 10, 1954 in Bonn against the Netherlands and was won 9-2. The Netherlands are also the German team's record opponents with 57 international matches, followed by England with 51 international matches.
Squad guidelines
The squad regulations are based on the specifications of the competitive sports division of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) . The overall roster is divided into four and includes the AD ranks of the DBV: For the A-roster , a placement in the top eight at the current Olympic Games or World Championships is necessary. The B-squad consists of the four highest-placed Germans named in the national rankings . The ranking is based on the ranking tournaments that the DBV has organized in five disciplines (men's singles, ladies singles, men doubles, ladies doubles, and mixed doubles). Participation in training units at a federal DBV base is a prerequisite for this. The C-squad consists of outstanding young people between 16 and 24 years of age, who come from the top two places in the respective age group. The prerequisite for a nomination is training at any DBV base at the federal, regional or junior level. The D-squad consists of young people between the ages of 14-17 and consists of the four highest-placed Germans in the respective age group.
The cadre composition is determined by a specially set up committee of the DBV, which meets every six months and submits its proposals for the cadre composition to the DBV Presidium for approval. The executive committee consists of the vice-president of competitive sports of the DOSB, the DBV sports director, the national badminton coach, the national badminton youth coach and an athlete representative.
