German Volleyball Bundesliga 1978/79 (women)

The 1978/79 season of the Volleyball Bundesliga was the third edition of this competition. The 1st VC Schwerte was able to defend his title from the previous year and became German champion for the second time .

This season the following eight teams played in the first division:

The first VC Schwerte took up the title as defending champion. Hamburger SV and SV Lohhof were promoted.

Results

For the first time, after the main round, the teams were divided into a championship and a relegation round, each with four participants.
