The 1998/99 season of the Volleyball Bundesliga was the twenty-third edition of this competition. The Dresdner SC became German champions for the first time .

Teams

This season the following ten teams played in the first division:

Schwerin SC took up the title as defending champion. TvdB Bremen, SCU Emlichheim and TV Wetzlar came from the second division.
