The 1989/90 season of the Volleyball Bundesliga was the fourteenth edition of this competition. The CJD Feuerbach was able to defend his title from the previous year and became German champion for the second time . Hörde and Vilsbiburg had to relegate.

CJD Feuerbach competed as defending champion. Hamburger SV and VC Straubing were promoted.
